Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

• Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and a password (stored only in hashed form by Supabase, our backend provider). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we also receive the name and profile photo that provider shares. If you buy on our website without being signed in, we create an account for you with the email address you paid with, so your purchase has a home.
• Purchase information. Web payments and subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We receive your email, what you bought, the amount, order references and, in some cases, your billing address and limited card details (brand, last four digits and expiry date). We never receive your full card number or security code. In our mobile apps, purchases go through Apple's App Store or Google Play and are managed on our behalf by RevenueCat, which receives your account's random user ID and your purchase records so we can unlock and restore your purchases across devices. We do not receive your card details from Apple or Google.
• Download and email sign-ups. When you enter your email to download a free app (such as MPC Stem Extractor or MPC Extractor Classic) or to join our list, we store your email and which version and platform you downloaded, and we email you the download link.
• Desktop app activations. Desktop apps sign in to your account with a secure token. The Board limits each license to five computers, so when you activate it we store your email together with a random ID the app generates for that computer and its operating system.
• Presets and saved work. Presets you save (patterns, settings and which library samples they use) are stored in your account so you can open them on any device. Presets do not contain your audio. Presets by artists we feature may be shown to other users.
• Your audio. Our tools (including Terminator, MPC Stem Extractor, Julienne, Baethoven, Drum Dojo and Cypher Grid) process the audio you load on your own device. It is not uploaded to us, with one exception: beat reports (below). If you record with your microphone in Terminator or The Board, the recording stays on your device.
• Feedback and beat reports. When you send feedback or a feature idea, we store the name you enter, your email if you give one (or your account email if you are signed in), your message and a random ID for your browser or device. Feature ideas we approve are shown publicly on the Ideas board with the name you entered. If you send a beat to MPC Stem Extractor for troubleshooting, the MPC project you upload, including its audio, goes to private storage that only we can access, and is deleted automatically after 90 days.
• The Board live sessions. Live sessions connect you directly to the other people in the session (peer-to-peer). Your audio and session data go to them over an encrypted connection, directly or, when a direct connection isn't possible, through a relay server; we do not record or store them. As with any live call, your IP address is visible to the other participants and to the servers that help set up the connection (our service on Cloudflare and Google's connection servers).
• Discord verification. If you verify your purchase in our Discord server, we store your Discord user ID with the email you verified and email you a one-time code, so our bot can give you the matching roles.
• AI melody feature (Studio). When you use it, the app builds a request from your musical settings (such as genre, key, scale and chords) and sends it to Google's Gemini API to generate a response. No audio or personal information is included, and we do not store these requests. Tools without an AI feature, including Baethoven, send nothing to an AI provider.
• Technical information. Like any website, our servers and providers receive your IP address and browser details when you visit. We use IP addresses to block abuse (for example, limiting repeated sign-up or feedback attempts), and our hosting provider keeps short-lived server logs. On the Julienne page we use your approximate country, worked out from your IP address, only to decide whether to ask for consent before the Meta Pixel loads; we do not store it. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts and sample libraries from Cloudflare, so those providers also receive your IP address.
• Analytics. On our website we use Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymized traffic. It does not use cookies, and we do not use it to build profiles of individual users. Our native apps do not include third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
• Advertising measurement (Julienne page only). Our Julienne page (killaviccheatcodes.app/julienne) uses the Meta Pixel to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads. When it is on, it sets cookies and sends Meta details of your visit (such as the page, your browser and IP address), when you click Buy, and when you complete a Julienne purchase (the amount and an order reference). Meta processes this under its own privacy policy and may link it to your Meta account. No other page on our website, and none of our native apps, uses the Meta Pixel. See "Cookies and Local Storage" below for how to turn it off.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to run the Services: to sign you in, deliver and restore your purchases, sync your access and presets across devices, send emails about your account and purchases (receipts, download links, sign-in and verification codes, trial notices), answer support requests and feedback, fix bugs, and protect the Services from abuse. We also send occasional emails about new tools and updates; you can stop these at any time by replying to one or emailing us (see "Contact"). On the Julienne page, subject to your choice, we measure our ads with the Meta Pixel.

Who We Share It With

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only with the providers that run parts of the Services for us, and only what each one needs:

• Supabase: accounts, sign-in and our database
• Stripe: web payments and subscriptions
• Apple and Google: mobile in-app purchases, and "Sign in with Apple / Google"
• RevenueCat: managing mobile in-app purchases
• Brevo: sending our emails
• Google: Gemini (the AI melody feature), Google Fonts, and connection servers for The Board
• Cloudflare: storage and delivery of samples and downloads, beat reports, and The Board's connection relay
• Vercel: website hosting, server logs and Vercel Analytics
• Meta: ad measurement on the Julienne page, only as described above
• Discord: only if you use our Discord server and its verification

Each provider handles data under its own privacy terms. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of our business.

Cross-Platform Access

If you purchase access on one platform (for example, on our website) and sign in to one of our apps with the same account, your purchase unlocks there as well. This works by matching your account email and purchase records across platforms.

Cookies and Local Storage

Our website uses essential cookies to keep you signed in, and stores some settings, recordings and app state in your browser's local storage so the tools remember them. The Julienne page also uses the Meta Pixel described above, which sets advertising cookies. If you are in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, it stays off unless you click Accept. Elsewhere it is on by default and you can click Decline. You can change your choice at any time with the "Ad tracking" link at the bottom of the Julienne page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as Decline. Our native apps do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account from within our apps (for example, Settings → Delete Account in Julienne), or by emailing us and asking for deletion. Deleting your account deletes your account record, sign-in, profile, subscription records and saved presets, and cancels any active web subscription.

We keep purchase records (email, product, amount and date) after deletion, for accounting and so a purchase can be restored. Stripe, Apple and Google keep their own transaction records. Download sign-ups, mailing-list entries, feedback, desktop activations and Discord verification records are stored separately from your account; ask us when you request deletion and we will delete those too. Beat report uploads are deleted automatically after 90 days.

Your Rights and Choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your personal information, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can stop our product emails at any time. Email us (see "Contact") and we will respond within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland. We process your information to provide the Services you asked for (performing our contract with you), for our legitimate interests in securing, supporting and improving them, and with your consent for the Meta Pixel, which you can withdraw at any time. You can also object to or ask us to restrict processing, and you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We and most of our providers are based in the United States, so your information is processed there.

California and other US states with privacy laws. The Meta Pixel on the Julienne page may count as "sharing" personal information for advertising under some state laws. You can opt out with the Decline button or the "Ad tracking" link on that page, or by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser. We do not sell personal information for money.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords and access controls on our database and storage. No online service can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Our Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
